NRI - RFA for 2004
By now I hope that each of you has had the opportunity to look at the
recently announced RFA for the NRI single investigator and integrated accounts for the 2004 competitions. After having some conversations with our counterparts at CSREES, I wanted to encourage each of you to look at the RFA with an "eye" toward Homeland Security. It will be important that you convey to your faculty that many of the competitions, while not explicitly mentioning Homeland Security, do in fact address issues related to Homeland Security. Faculty should keep this in mind as they prepare their proposals, as panel members I am told will be doing likewise.
Summer Joint Mini-Land Grant Program
Program planning for the 2004 Summer NE Regional Joint Mini-Land Grant meeting, July 11-13, 2004 in Mystic, CT has begun. If you have thoughts that you would like to share about the program, please get them to me so that I can bring them to the attention of the program planning committee.

Thanksgiving Holidays
I know that at this time in the fall semester, many of you, in fact I
suspect all of you, myself included, are looking to the break that comes later this week. All of us at the NERA office wish you and your
staff a Happy Turkey Day. I do hope that each of you will have time for a few moments for reflection, rest and relaxation with family and friends.
