  1. Update technical committee on changes in multistate program
  2. Review progress reports for achieving objectives, clarity, conciseness, and evidence of stakeholder involvement in research
  3. Set deadlines for completing progress reports and various phases of re-writing new project outlines
  4. Encourage broad participation in scientific expertise, including extension, from a multitude of states in different regions
  5. Encourage attendance of all participants and follow-up on instances of repeated absences of particular members
  6. Get to know the scientists and who the leaders are in the group
  7. When problems arise, such as tardiness in completing progress reports, consult with the leaders of the technical committee to achieve goals and meet deadlines
  8. Give consideration to the selection of meeting sites, costs for travel, and public perception of what is being done with federal funds
  9. If unsure about procedures, call another Director or consult with Rubie Mize for advice
  10. Promote more efficient dissemination of research results to growers and other recipients (ie., develop websites, expand extension efforts, etc.)
  11. Ensure that delivery of services and information is directed to all citizens regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, and other categories covered by federal and state laws
